Indian players are making everyone proud of them performing in the Tokyo Olympics and no doubt they have done their preparation by leaps and bounds. Another name that is creating a buzz in competition and in the heart of Indian’s is Bajrang Punia who is on his way to appear in his next game to win the Bronze medal match. Punia’s bronze medal fight in the freestyle wrestling in 65kg is about to take place at 3:55 PM.
After losing in the semi-final against Azerbaijan’ Haji Aliyev, Bajrang Punia gave a neck-to-neck battle in yesterday’s final match where he played against Iran’s Morteza Ghiasi and after that, he locked horns against Kyrgyzstan’s Ernazar Akmataliev. After losing against Haji Aliyev he decided that now he won’t stop in upcoming matches and as a result, he is all set to win his Bronze medal bout. There is no doubt that Punia is just one bout away from his first-ever Olympic medal and saying this won’t be bad that it would be the most prized addition to the medals all Indian wrestlers have won over the years.
However, there are many things to keep in mind for Punia and this is not only his age as he is 27 years old, but he is a 3-time medal holder in the world championships and he is the only one who won multiple medals at the event. His determination made him the best and world’s no. 1 in his weight category in 2018 November. If you start counting his achievements so the list will start with a pair of gold medals at the Commonwealth Championships and a couple of gold medals at the Asian Championships and it will not end here because the list is long and goes on.
