Benjamin Berell Freencz was born on March 11, 1920, in Csolt, Szatmar County, Kingdom of Hungary located close to Transylvania. He was an American lawyer and also an investigator of Nazi War crimes after World War second and the chief prosecutor for the United States Army at the Einsatzgruppen trial.
Ferencz was a multilingual person. He could speak 6 languages including German. He shared his experience of crime investigation and how was he traumatized. Ferencz spoke of finding bodies piled up like cordwood and helpless skeletons with diarrhea, dysentery, typhus, TB, pneumonia, and other ailments, retching in their louse-ridden bunks or on the ground with only their pathetic eyes pleading for help.
