Even though the pandemic has affected the film industry’s business badly, the makers are not taking a break in entertaining the target audience. They are continuously bringing some exciting movies and series to make the tense atmosphere light. Recently, Bunty Aur Babli 2 hit the theatres with a motive to receive immense love from the fans. However, the audiences didn’t seem to like the film and due to this reason, the 2021 released film failed to collect much. YRF biggie hit the screens on November 19 on the special occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. Despite getting released on such a great day, the film fell flat. It opened to Rs 2.60 crores only and the rate of growth remained slower throughout the week as well. It won’t be wrong to state that the movie failed to impress the audience. Looking at the number of figures it made by the end of the week, the film only garnered 8.30 crores which is undoubtedly a slow start. Taran Adarsh who is a well-known trade analyst shared a post on Twitter regarding the same.
The trade analyst stated that the movie has a lacklustre opening weekend. He added that even on the second day, no turnaround was seen while Day 3 witnessed minimal growth as well. The analyst concluded that the statistics seal the fate of the film and added that it might face tough weekdays too. On another side, Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi which was released the same day has been collecting good so far. The said film received a wide international release as it was released across 1300 screens in 66 countries while Rani Mukherjee’s film got released on fewer screens.
Talking about the screen count of Bunty Aur Babli 2, it was released on 1800 screens in India while was premiered on 700 screens overseas. After the release of Salman Khan’s starrer Antim and Satyameva Jayate 2, it would get more difficult for the film to do well at the box office. Directed by Varun V. Sharma, the film has only managed to earn 14.83 crores. Apart from Rani and Saif, it features Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh in pivotal roles.
