The film coincided with the festival of Rakhi but failed to take complete advantage of the festival days. Along with that, the film clashed with Aamir Khan starer Lal Singh Chaddha that dividing the audience into two parts. The film started its theatrical journey on 11th June 2022 on a low note, the film has experienced significant growth throughout the weekend and remained constant. The film then entered its first week and fell flat. It experienced a lack of audience in the theatres. Some of the viewers even stated that the film is an ordinary drama and it would be better if they watched the film at the home on some digital platform. The film witnessed a decline in its box office collection in its first weekend.
Raksha Bandhan is now performing on its 10th day but hasn’t touched the mark of ₹50 crores at the domestic box office. It started its box office journey with ₹8.50 crores, however, it was assumed that it would be kicked its theatrical release with the double-digit figure. It didn’t cross the mark of 7 crores during the reaming days of its first weekend and came up with ₹28.16 crores. According to the box office reports, the film collected ₹45.6 crores at the domestic box office and along with a contribution of ₹5.57 crores it obtained ₹51.17 crores against the production budget of ₹70 crores. Some trade analysts declared the film a box office bomb.
Recently in an interview, the actor took the responsibilities of his film on himself. Akshay Kumar said that he is responsible for his unsuccessful films. The statement further reads that he has to think out of the box to regain the interest of the audience. This is the third consecutive flop of the actor after Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj in the same year.
Raksha Bandhan is directed by Aanand L. Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma. The film is produced by Twinkle Khanna under the production banner of Cape of Good Films.
