Former Union Minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam’s wife Kitty Kumaramangalam was brutally murdered on Tuesday night in her Delhi’s residence. The police have informed that the 67-years-old lawyer was at her residence at Vasant Vihar in South Delhi where three culprits entered the house and smothered her to death. She was found dead inside her house while her pieces of jewellery and money have gotten stolen. The shocking incident happened on 6th July at night when the three suspects committed the horrifying crime. The incident has created fear among the residents there.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Ingit Pratap Singh stated that in this terrifying murder case, three suspects were recorded where one of them has been taken into custody while the other two culprits are yet to be arrested. The police have started their investigation in the case and began to search for the two culprits who managed to escape. The man who has gotten arrested is Raju Lakhan. The 24-year-old culprit worked as a washerman in Kitty Kumarmangalam’s house for almost 5 years.
As per the information by the officials, Raju along with his two associates planned to enter the lawyer house. On Tuesday at 9 PM, Raju rang the bell and when Kitty Kumarmanglam opened the door, he overpowered her and then quickly dragged her to a room. There, Raju tied her tighlthy. Meanwhile, the other culprits entered the house. They all suffocated the woman using a pillow and continued until she died. Later, they stole the money and the pieces of jewellery kept in the house and run away.
After a while, another worker Maju arrived at the house and saw Kitty Kuamrmangalam being tied. She untied her and asked the neighbours to help. Later, they called the police who arrived at the location soon after. The officials have stated that they have informed Kitty Kumarmanagalm’s son who lives in Bengaluru about his other’s death while have formed multiple teams to search for the other two accused and to arrest them.
Kitty Kumarmanagalam had been serving as a lawyer in Supreme Court and was married to Ex-Union Minister Phanindranath Rangarajan Kumaramangalam. He was a prominent politician of both the Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janta Pary (BJP) and had served as minister of Law, Justice, Company Affairs in PV Narsimha Rao Cabinet from 1991 to 1993. He also served as Minister of Power from 1998 to 2000. P. Rangarajan Kumaramangalamdied on 23rd August 2000.
