A firefighter named Captain Josh Laird has died after suffering from several injuries, got while battling a house fire. The fire department of Fredrick County confirmed the death news of their one of the best and oldest group member. Captain Laird who completed 21 years of togetherness with the department died on Wednesday evening August 11. The captain has left the entire team in a state of grief. An official announcement of his death had been made on Facebook by the Career Firefighters Association of Fredrick County where they mourned his death and said that no one can take his place.
As per the reports of Fredrick County Fire Chief Steven Leatherman stated that Captain Josh Laird went to respond to a house caught by fire in the 9500 block of Ball Road and when he reached the place he falls into the basement of the floor and after that, he issued a Mayday and after that, a rescue operation was requested, after which he got some serious injuries on the body due to which he was taken to the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital where doctors announced his death after battling from the injuries. The other reason behind everyone’s grief is the captain was with them for the last 21 years which is a really big deal and everyone was like a family.
In another statement Local 3666 sad that they are deeply saddened to announce the death of Captain Josh Laird. They said that he was like their brother and it is so sad to believe the reality but they have to goodbye to their brother. They said that the captain went to get control of a house fire in Ijamsville this evening and in the end succumbed to the injuries he got while on duty. In a post, they wrote “Please keep Captain Laird’s family in your thoughts and prayers as well as our DFRS family” Later adding they said that they mourn the unexpected loss of their team’s one of the most amazing people.
