In recent news, prominent Christian leader Pastor Jack Hayford died. He reportedly took his last breath on Sunday, January 8, 2023. The King’s University took to Facebook to share the saddening piece of news. Sharing a picture of Hayford, they wrote that the pastor passed away on Sunday at his home in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. According to the post by The King’s University on Facebook, Jack Hayford passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Jan 8. The pastor reportedly ate his dinner with his wife Valerie and talked to one of his grandkids the evening before his sudden death. The post got flooded with tributary posts and condolence messages within some time. People, who were shocked by the pastor’s death expressed their sadness about the same on social media. Several people described Hayford as an amazing kind-hearted man whose absence will definitely be noticed as it will affect his loved ones.
Who Was Jack Hayford?
Jack Hayford was popularly known as Pastor Jack. He was the founding pastor of The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California. There, the man served as senior pastor for more than three decades. Apart from being a well-known pastor, Hayford was also an author. Reports claim that he co-authored around 50 books and went on to compose 500 hymns and choruses.
The prolific and best-selling writer recorded a worship song titled ‘Majesty’ that garnered a lot of popularity globally. He then founded The King’s University in Southlake, Texas in 1997. Besides, Jack served as chancellor of the evangelical university before handing off the chancellorship to Pastor Robert Morris. For those unversed, Morris was the lead senior pastor of Gateway Church. From 2004 to 2009, Jack also served as President of The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG).
Randy Remington, current president of ICFG said that Jack was a Kingdom ambassador whose influence transcended denominational, generational, and global boundaries. Remington further added that the pastor’s passion for Spirit-filled worship, fervent intercessory prayer, and biblical preaching that revealed Jesus were modeled in his own personal life and that he truly embodied the life he invited others into.
