The brother of the Sopranos star said in a statement Friday evening that it is with great sadness but with incredible pride, love, and a whole lot of fond memories, that the family of Gennaro Anthony “Tony” Sirico wishes to inform you of his death on the morning of July 8, 2022. Soprano’s costar Michael Imperioli took to Instagram on Friday to mourn Tony Sirico’s death. He wrote that it pains him to say that his dear friend, colleague, and partner in crime, has died today. Imperioli further wrote that Tony was like no one else and went on to describe him as tough, loyal, and as big-hearted as anyone has ever known. According to his family, Sirico is survived by his two children, grandchildren, siblings, and many other relatives. Apart from sharing the saddening piece of news, the family did not reveal Tony Sirico’s cause of death.

Born on July 29, 1942, in New York, United States, Gennaro Anthony Sirico was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Peter Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri in the Sopranos. The actor appeared plenty of times in the films, Woody Allen. He got his first confirmed role in the 1974 film Crazy Joe where he essayed the role with the help of Richard Castellano. Later, he went on to play endless roles of gangsters in films including Mob Queen, Love, and Monet, Fingers, Innocent Blood, Goodfellas, Mighty Aphrodite, Cop Land, and Hello Again, Wonder Wheel, and many more.
Sirico also played policemen in movies such as Deconstructing Harry and Dead Presidents. His most acclaimed acting job was that of Paulie Gualtieri in David Chase’s Emmy award-winning drama, The Sopranos.
