In recent news, a confidante of Egypt’s late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, Sami Sharaf passed away. He was 94 at the time of his death which resulted in everyone getting saddened. Media reports confirm that he took his last breath on Monday, January 23, 2023. Sami Sharaf Death Cause

According to reports, Sami Sharaf was suffering from an unspecified illness for a very long time. He was reportedly receiving treatment for the same too but instead of recovering, Sharaf died. Despite getting the best medical care, he could not survive. However, his actual cause of death remains unknown. What kind of illness he was suffering from and how did he die has not come to the front yet. Following the announcement of the saddening piece of news, tributary posts flooded the internet. Who Was Sami Sharaf?

As per reports, Sharaf was born in Cairo in 1929. He was a graduate of Egypt’s military academy. There, Nasser instructed him about everything. It is coming forward that Sami was among the founders of Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate after the 1952 revolution. For those unversed, the revolution turned the country from a hereditary monarchy into a republic.

Apart from this, Sharaf was also named an aide to Nasser in 1955. He went on to become the Egyptian leader’s secretary. Some months before the death of Nasser, Sami was appointed minister for presidential affairs. In 1971, Anwar Sadat, Nasser’s successor, detained Sami. He was not the only one to get arrested as dozens of other Nasser loyalists were also taken into custody. Let us add that Anwar accused the Nasser loyalists of plotting to overthrow his government.

It is reported that Sami Sharaf was sentenced to life in prison but was pardoned in 1981. Currently, his family and well-wishers are coming forward and mourning his unfortunate death.
