The film was inspired by the life journey of one of the incredibly courageous and proficient Indian Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life for his nation during the 2008 dreaded Mumbai attacks.
Major released on 3 June 2022 with sky-high expectations and hit the ball out of the park on its first day. It received favourable words of mouth from all over for its screenplay, direction, emotional weight, action sequence and much more. The film attained commercial success at the box office as it obtained ₹66 crores against the production budget of ₹35 crores. As we mentioned above Major was inspired by the real-life incidents of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who was martyred just at the age of 31 while protecting his nation from terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He was serving in the 51 Special Action Group of National Security Guards on deputation. He was honoured with Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award on 26th January 2009.
