Well, this time the prize has won by Journalists Dmitry Muratove and Maria Ressa who raise their voice for freedom of expression in Russia and the Philippines. The Nobel committee has invited the pair and rewarded them with this prestigious award. Well, Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratove chose out of 329 candidates for the award. Along with that, the winners have been announced at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo.
Besides, Ms Ressa is a co-founder of the famous news site Rappler, she is praised for using expression to “expose abuse of powers, use of violence and growing authoritarianism in her native country, the Philippines”. Well, during live broadcasting by Rappler wherein Ms Ressa stated that she was taken back that you can’t prove anything without facts in this world. In her other statement, she said that it was an honour to receive this esteemed reward from her chief executive.
Later, the Nobel committee praised Mr Muratov who co-founded the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, he is also an editor in the organization. He was further praised for his dedication toward his work, he is defending the freedom of Speech in Russia even after facing all the odds. In one of the exclusive interviews, Mr Muratov stated that “I’m laughing. I didn’t expect this at all. It’s madness here.” He further stated that this prize is “retribution for Russian journalism which is being repressed now”. The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov praised the work and dedication of Muratov. He called him talented and brave.
