According to reports, Kwanzaa is a holiday that takes place from December 26 to January 1. It is mainly celebrated in the United States and the holiday celebrates African family and social values. Sources confirm that it was in 1966 when the festival was first celebrated. Maulana Karenge coined the term. He was an African studies professor from California State University.
From the Swahili phrase “matunda ya kwanza”, Karenga borrowed the word “kwanza”. Kwanzaa in itself is not a Swahili word. To add, each day of the celebration is dedicated to one of the Kwanzaa principles. Besides, the holiday has seven symbols including nuts, fruits, vegetables, a candle holder, maize, a straw hat, and a communal cup that represents unity. It also has seven candles in red, black, and green which represent Africa.
On each day of the festival, one’s family unites to light one of the candles in the candleholder and then they all discuss the principle assigned to the day. The Instagram post that has now been deleted was uploaded on September 1. The rapper claimed that his children go to Donda and not Sierra Canyon School. Let us add that Kanye shares four kids, Saint, Psalm, North, and Chicago. Stay tuned to this space for more updates and the latest news trending on the internet.
