Ontario officers are under fire after news of an inmate’s death emerged. Reports said the prisoner had died while awaiting trial in an Ontario jail. The deceased has been identified as Anthony (Anth) Peter Chatzimanolakis, a resident of Canada.
He made headlines after news of his arrest hit the newspapers and led to several charges against him including motor vehicle theft, criminal harassment, and carrying a loaded gun without a license. He was in custody awaiting trial, but his death was shared online shortly after, leaving people in deep shock and questioning what happened to him. It is clear that the Chatzimanolakis family is deeply saddened by the passing of Anthony. After the death of Anthony, people are curious to know more about it. Reports said that he was taken into custody on 15 September 2022 on charges including possession of a loaded gun and car theft, among other charges.
Who Is Anthony Chatzimanolakis?
His case was still before the courts, and Chatzimanolakis was not punished. Chatzimanolakis’ lawyer Carmelo Truskello said his bail review hearing was scheduled to be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, in Toronto. His lawyer told that Anthony’s started hurt bursting from the year 2019 while waiting for the hearing in the car accident. The prison had reportedly planned Chatzimanoulakis for surgery on 3 November 2022 at Sunnybrook Hospital but the surgery was canceled for the reason of no evidence. His death has been officially confirmed by the Ministry of the Solicitor General. The ministry also stated that paramedics were called to the prison on the day staff observed the unresponsive inmate in Anthony’s own cell in medical pain.
Also, he did not disclose further details as the investigation related to Anthony’s death was continuing. Also, the family of the dead has indicated in the initial post-mortem report that their loved one might have lost his life following a drug overdose. However, this cannot be asserted as of now as the investigation is still going on. Reportedly, the funeral was planned for Monday, 3 April 2023, at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church. His family wants to know the reason behind his sudden and unfortunate death. Reports say that he was 30 years old at the time of passing as he was born on 25 November 1992. He was the son of George and Lena and the brother of Melissa Chatzimanolakis. The entire family is in deep shock and at this time we can only pray for his soul to rest in peace.
