After being stung by bees more than 20,000 times and ingesting roughly three dozen of the buzzing insects, a young man from Ohio is in critical condition. According to his mother Shawna Carter of Fox19Now, Austin Bellamy, 20, was pruning a lemon tree last week when he accidentally cut open a bee hive, releasing hundreds of African killer bees that swiftly swarmed around his head, neck, and shoulders. She told the local media that it appeared that he had a black blanket covering his head, neck, and arms. Check further details here.
Friday morning, Bellamy was pruning overgrown branches in the tree while his uncle and grandma, Phyllis Edwards, observed from below. The enraged bees all flew out when he abruptly sliced open the hive. According to Edwards of Fox19, “when he started cutting them, that’s when the bees poured out, and he tried to anchor himself down, but he couldn’t. “Help!’ he cried out in a shout. Aid me! Help!’” She and Bellamy’s uncle were both being attacked and helpless.
I intended to attempt the ladder in an effort to reach Austin. I noticed how tall he was. but I was mobbed by bees and couldn’t reach him,” she added. He was rescued from the tree by responding firefighters. Following that, Edwards was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance while Bellamy was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to a local news source.
Bellamy was given a ventilator and put into a coma that was artificially induced. Carter stated in the description of a fundraiser she organized to pay for his medical costs that her kid had ingested roughly 30 bees and had been stung more than 20,000 times. She told Fox19 that into Sunday morning, hospital staff workers had been “suctioning” bees out of Bellamy. She claimed that when she initially learned what had happened to her kid, she fainted.
According to the mother, Bellamy also ingested around 30 bees, and that made his condition even worse. It took doctors more than a day to remove those bees from Bellamy so that he could feel better. Seeing her son in so much pain, Bellamy’s mother was saddened and she only prayed for his betterment to God.
