Every candidate wants to crack the toughest exam in the country UPSC and to become an IAS officer. However, it is not as easy it as seems. Though there are people who make their dreams true by craking the exam. One such candidate is Renu Raj. A doctor by profession Renu Raj has cracked UPSC in her first attempt only. As if it was not enough, the girl even secured the second rank in the country which is really impressive. To pursue her dreams, Renu Raj left her medical practice behind and prepared for the exam by studying for almost 6 hours daily.
Renu has gotten in the headlines and is getting praises and appreciation from people around the country. She was born in Kerala and completed her schooling at St. Teresa’s Higher Secondary School that is located in Kottayam. After completing her higher school education, she got admission to Government Medical College to study medicine. It is situated in Kottayam as well. There, Renu Raj practised medicine and began walked on the path to become a doctor. However, she always wanted to become an IAS officer ever since childhood so while working she decided to give it a try.
Dr Raj decided to help the common people and determined herself to crack the exams. After the thought, Renu immediately quit her existing job and started her preparations for the UPSC exam. The doctor turned IAS officer studied 6 hours a day and began her preparations for the same in 2013. Her hard work paid off as she managed to crack the hardest exam in her first attempt only and secured the second position in the country. In 2015, Shashi Tharur even congratulated Renu Raj for her success and shared a post regarding the same on his Twitter handle.
Talking about her achievement, Renu Raj shared that being a doctor didn’t satisfy her much as she was only able to help 50-60 people but she wanted to reach the maximum portion of the people so she decided to pursue her childhood dream. Currently, Dr Renu Raj is a Sub-Collector of Devikulum and is known for taking strict actions against any illegal activities. Renu Raj has stated that though she cannot bring a change in society overnight but at least can put effort. She says that she can guarantee that the people would never have to approach her for the second time if they came up with a genuine demand.
