Former secretary for justice and public safety of Kentucky John Tilley has been arrested by the police officials and charged with first-degree rest degree rape on Monday 8 August. John Tilley was arrested from Lexington. John Tilley has been accused of sexual intercourse with a woman who was highly drunk and was not in the condition of giving her consent in a hotel in Lexington.
Although the incident took place on 15 April but the charges were filed on Monday 8 August. Reports have further claimed that John Tilley claims to be innocent and he has been cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. His attorney Christopher Speeding spoke to the media and stated that his client John Tilley is a law-abiding and court-respecting man. He is cooperating with all procedures in the investigation. He does not further comment on this. John Tilley is a democratic state representative who was appointed by the Republican governor Matt Bevin.
John served in the position of Justice and public safety cabinet secretary from December 2015 to 2019. He served this position for almost 4 years. John Tilley was also a member of Kentucky’s House of Representatives and he served seven years as the chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He had a career and was working in Public service for the last many decades. He was dedicated to the public serving departments and now he has been accused of such a misdemeanor is shocking and saddening at the same time. Back in the year 2017, John Tilley released a press release in which he stated, “The survivors of sexual assault should never have to endure the uncertainty of another backlog.” Even in the year 2019, he stated that in Kentucky we believe in justice.
