After being postponed last year due to the pandemic, Tokyo Olympics 2020 has been scheduling games in which countries from around the world are participating. Started from July 23, 2021, the summer Olympics is witnessing extraordinary battles and unexpected performances from the participating teams and the solo athletes. One such hurdler belonging to America named Rai Benjamin recently won a silver medal for his country and is getting appreciation for his brilliant performance. Yes, the hurdler secured a medal in men’s 400 hurdles where ran the greatest race of his life.
The race took place on August 3 where despite fiving his possible best, Rai Benjamin lost to Karsten Warholm belonging to Norway. The latter won the anticipated gold medal and defeated Benjamin by 0.76 seconds. While Benjamin created a world record by 0.6 seconds. Talking about Benjamin’s time, it was 46.17 seconds while Warholm took the lead considering the latter’s time by 45.94 seconds. The 34-years-old athlete stated after the race that if someone has told him that he would finish the race at 46.1 seconds and still lose, he would have beaten him up.
However, Benjamin stated that it was the best race in Olympic history and that even Usain Bolt could top that. earlier in June, in the US Olympics trial, Benjamin had reached closer to break the event world record. Though, in the finals, it was neither Rai Benjamin nor Warholm who broke the records as it was broken by Alison Dos Santos who hailed from Brazil. Warholm managed to win the Bronze medal and also succeeded in besting Young’s legacy.
Besides, that race set another world record as six out of the eight athletes managed to set national records for their countries. Benjamin even shared a post on his official Instagram account where he was seen crossing the hurdle and captioned it with “Good speed, Last one us” with a finger emoji. Speaking of his personal life, Benjamin is currently dating Talia DeLuca.
Reportedly, they two are in a relationship since 2019. Being quite popular on Instagram, DeLuca enjoys a follower list of 16k. On the work front, Talia is a personal trainer as she is presently working at Anatomy Fitness. Benjamin’s girlfriend is a Political Science major while she also did a minor from Boston University in Managing Social impact which focuses on Economic and Environmental Sustainability.
