Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary is all set to entertain her fans as she has been roped in to play the role of cultural activist and author Pupul Jayakar. For those unversed, Pupul was Indira Gandhi’s childhood friend. It is expected that the viewers will get to see the non-political side of the great leader. Apart from Mahima’s appearance in the film, there’s one thing that is gaining the attention of the netizens too. Well, it is the appearance of controversial actress Kangana Ranaut who will play Indira Gandhi’s role.
It is reported that Kangana Ranaut will play the character of Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister while Anupam Kher will be seen essaying the role of revolutionary leader J.P. Narayan. On another side, Shreyas Talpade will also join the cast of the movie as he will play the role of late politician Atal Bihari Vajpayee who served as the country’s Prime Minister thrice.
Talking about her role in the upcoming film, Mahima Chaudhry said that working with Kangana is an experience because she wears several hats with such great ease and that she is playing such an important political character herself. Adding further, Mahima said that Kangana is directing and producing the film herself and that she gets a lot of strength looking at her and the way she functions.
As already mentioned, Pupul Jayakar was Mrs. Gandhi’s childhood friend so Mahima’s scenes are the ones where the viewers will get to see the non-political side of the controversial leader during the time of Emergency. She went on to say that they are very open and honest with each other and that the viewers will see a very different side of Gandhi so it is quite interesting to play the character.
Let us add that Emergency is the title of this upcoming film which is both written and directed by Kangana Ranaut while Renu Pitti and Kangana had been associated with the film as the producers. Meanwhile, the screenplay and dialogues are by Ritesh Shah. Kangana Ranaut talked about her character too and said Pupul was an author, a very close friend of Mrs. Gandhi, and has also written her autobiography and said that Gandhi confided in her about everything and added that if there is one thread that runs through the film and connects the audiences to the inner world of Ms. Gandhi, then it is the character of Pupul Jayakar.
