In recent news, a doctor in Rajasthan’s Dausa district committed suicide. On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the doctor identified as Dr. Archana Sharma ended her life and left a suicide note behind. As per reports, an FIR was filed against the doctor for the murder of a pregnant woman. The medical practitioner left a suicide note in which she appealed to people to stop harassing innocent doctors. Leaving the suicide note behind, Dr. Archana Sharma wrote that she loved her husband and children a lot. The doctor appealed to the people not to harass her loved ones after her death and added that neither did she kill anyone nor did she commit a mistake. Writing further, Archana added that PPH (Postpartum hemorrhage) is a known complication so stop harassing doctors so much for this. Archana further wrote that he wishes her death may prove her innocence. In concluding the letter, the medical practitioner urged the people not to make her children feel the absence of their mother.
After one of her patients, a pregnant lady died as a result of complications, Dr. Archana Sharma was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Following the death of the patient, the pregnant woman’s family accused the private hospital of negligence. Under alleged political pressure, the Lalsot police lodged an FIR against Dr. Archana Sharma under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Well, this apparently forced Dr. Sharma to take the extreme step. It is reported that Ankit Chaudhary, officer-in-charge of the Lalsot police station in Dausa, was suspended in connection with the doctor’s suicide case on Wednesday.
Apart from this, the Rajasthan government has also ordered the removal of the Dausa Superintendent of Police (SP). Also, on Wednesday, a high-level meeting was scheduled at Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief Minister, residence. A release has said that it was decided in the meeting that strict action will be taken against those who incited the doctor to take her life. Ashok Gehlot has ordered the formation of a committee led by the additional chief secretary (home) to prevent similar instances from occurring again and to provide appropriate recommendations.
