Mustapha Balogun

He was born on 8 August 1947 at Ila-Orangun in Osun State. Tafa Balogun was the 21st Inspector General of Police. He was a member of cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Course 3.  He worked in different police authorities throughout the federation and earned promotions as when due Tafa was at the time, from the principal Staff officer (PSO)  to former inspector General police, Muhammadu Gambo, Deputy Commission of Police Edo State, the pioneer Commissioner of Police in Delta State. As per the report, Mustapha Balogun passed away at the age of 74. He had taken his last breath on 4th August 2022 Thursday at the hospital in Lekki, Lagos at about 8:30 pm during a brief illness, according to family sources. He passed away a few days before his 75th birthday. This news is very heartbreaking and shocking for his family, and friends because they lost their beloved member of the family. Tafa, a fellow of the premier highest military institution in Nigeria, the National War College, later became the Assistant Inspector General of police A.I.G Zone One, Kano from where he was named the 21st IGP of the police on 6 March 2002. He joined the University of Lagos, graduating in 1972 with a B.A. in Political Science. In May 1973, he entered the Nigeria Police Force.
