Underworld hitmen opened fire in a gym in Sydney’s west overnight, leaving Tarek Zahed fighting for his life and his brother Omar dead. Omar, Tarek’s younger brother, tweeted a brazen TikTok montage of himself and Tarek posing in front of expensive jets and surrounded by Comanchero bikies last week. Tarek Zahed, 41, of Comanchero, and his brother, Omar, 39, of Parramatta, were working out at the Bodyfit Fitness Centre on Parramatta Road on Tuesday night when they were shot in the foyer by a hail of bullets. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the brothers on the spot.
According to reports, Omar died at the scene after he went into traumatic cardiac arrest. Omar was shot multiple times in the stomach, arms, and legs, which resulted in his unfortunate death. On another side, Tarek was shot with around 10 bullets in his head, legs, and body. Reports claim that Tarek is not dead and is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Kevin McSweeney, NSW Ambulance Inspector, said that when they arrived on the scene both patients had suffered significant blood loss. Adding further, Kevin said that it was a horrific and confronting scene that happened in front of several witnesses.
The Ambulance Inspector said that it is very fortunate no other members of the public were injured. Kevin McSweeney continued to say that paramedics did everything they could but despite best efforts, he Omaar died. Speaking about the matter, NSW Police Minister Paul Toole vowed to hunt down the perpetrators. Police also shared that they had warned the brothers regarding their lives being in danger and had encouraged them to leave the state. Apart from this, the officials did not share any further details about it such as who was making those threats.
Commissioner Webb said it was too soon to say whether Tarek’s shooting was retaliation for underworld figure Mahmoud ‘Brownie’ Ahmad, who was shot and killed in Greenacre less than a week ago after being informed of a multimillion-dollar bounty on his head.
