Let’s start with the series’s cast and crew. It is directed by well-known director Jeong Se Kyo who is best known for directing the 2020 film “Oh! My Gran” and written by Lee Byung Hak. It is bankrolled by Compass Pictures, TVing, and CJ ENM Sstudios. The first part of this series was scheduled to be released on August 29, 2024. According to the reports, the first part of this series came with a total of eight episodes, premiering exclusively on TVing. If you are looking forward to watching part 1 of The Queen Woo, then it can be streamed online on TVing. However, the overseas release of this series is yet to be announced. Before reviewing this series, let’s take a look at the plot of the series. The Queen Woo is based on the life of Queen Woo who was the first woman to be crowned as Queen two times. The Queen was born in 160 AD. In this series which tells the Queen’s story, stars Ji Chang Wook in the role of King of Goguryeo Go Na Mu. The first stills of the series released by TVing a day before its release, showed the multiple faces of the King battling to rule Goguryeo. The King marries Queen Woo whose role is played by Jeon Jong Seo in the series. When the Queen’s relative starts a revolt against the King. The King suddenly loses his life, leading the Queen to take over the throne and protect her people.

Notably, this series “The Queen Woo” is made on a whopping budget of 30 billion KRW. As this series created a buzz due to its budget, the viewers became keen about it. However, several intimate or bed scenes which are said to be out of context in the series, embroiled the series in a controversy. The series received severe criticism due to its unnecessary intimate scenes which seemed to be filmed to attract the viewers. Meanwhile, the K-netizens backlashed the series for using women as attractions.

The overall review of the series is not so good as some scenes have been stretched so badly such as the King’s death part becomes so boring due to its overstretched time in the plot.
